Officer of the 2nd Light Dragoons, US Army Cavalry

Battle of Mississinewa

This soldier is depicted as he may have mustered in Franklinton (future Columbus Ohio) for the expedition under John Cambell to the attack the Miami Indian village of Mississineway.  The expedition was comprised of Dragoons and mounted infantry.  They travelled through Springfield and Xenia on their way to Greenville.  Three days march out of Greenville the force reached the Mississinewa river.  The Dragoons were commanded by major James. V. Ball.  This Dragoon packs the pistols and carries the cavalry saber of the troop. He wears the 1808 issue cap with plume, epaulets and short coat and breeches of the Dragoons.  The 2nd Light saw extensive service on the frontier.

Another wonderful Imrie Risley 54mm white metal figure kit.  This is a very fine sculpture of a standing horse, with mounted rider in dress uniform at ease.
