9th Australian Infantry Division, siege of Tobruk, 1940,41
The Australian 20th,24th and 26th infantry brigades from the 9th Division anchored the defense of Tobruk, holding the perimeter against Rommel and the German/Italian troops of the Afrika Korps. The 18th brigade of the 7th Australian division, held in reserve, reinforced all of the sectors when under attack.
