The figure on the left is a trooper of the First Regiment of Guides, and the right figure is from the Chasseurs a Chaval. Note that both castings are the same head and base with different tunics, arms and equipment. This particular type of forage cap was known as the ‘tent hat’ to the British and a ‘bonnet de police’ to the French speaking continentals. These particular uniforms would have been their walking out dress, which was less formal than parade, or mess dress.
