From A.E. Haswell Miller’s book “Vanished Armies” this cavalry trooper from 1910 was just one of the many colorful uniforms of the Belgian Army. This figure is completely scratch built. I carved the masters from two part epoxy resin and had the pieces cast by Old Glory Miniatures. The pieces were cast as separate heads, bodies, arms and legs. These castings, supplemented with other homecasting parts from Prince August molds and specialty pieces from Dorset miniatures, allowed me to make my best attempt to recreate the figures from his paintings in miniature.

The reverse view

The base is cast as part of the lower legs and torso, glued to a wooden block, primed and painted. This is figure #12 from plate 61 of the book.
